Date suggested by dates of reign of Louis XI (1461-1483), last king included in original ms.; ninth sheet was apparently added later to include Charles VIII and Louis XII, who reigned from 1483-1498 and 1498-1515, respectively. Caption title: "Cy senssuivent les lignees des roys de France, et co[m]ment les generations sont descendues lune de lautre; et co[m]ment elles sont faillies; et si parle en brief de leurs faiz et en quel temps ilz ont regne et combien et ou ilz gisent et quelx enfans ilz ont eu; et en quel temps fut la cite de Lutesse fomentee et co[m]ment elle fut no[m]mee Paris; et co[m]ment le royaume de... Composed of nine sheets of vellum glued together to form a continuous long roll; text in a bâtard hand in red and brown; large illuminated letter "A" at head of text in red and gold on blue background; smaller alternating red and blue illuminated initials throughout; left and right margins decorated with wide vertical bands of red and green; center margin separating columns of text decorated... Added title on verso of ms., in black ink in a later hand: "Lignees des rois de France depuis Pharamond jusque à Louis XI." Original ms., in color (first 8 sheets), ends with Louis XI; ninth sheet added to roll to include later kings, Charles VIII and Louis XII, whose entries are not colored or illuminated, and whose descriptions appear in a different hand. In rust brown cloth-covered clamshell box, resting in customized "trough", and secured with cloth tie.
