- Title from incipit; De Ricci uses title "De reformatione status coenobiorum".
Possible dates and places of production suggested by watermark of the letter "P"; cf. Briquet 8684 and 8686. De Ricci suggests Switzerland as possible place of origin, probably based on Nider's work as prior of the convent at Basle, and his ties to the Council of Basle.
Incipit: "Incipit tractat[us] de refor[ma]tio[n]e stat[us] cenobitia reverendi f[rat]ris Jo[hann]is Nider sacre theologie p[ro]fessore Ordi[ni]s P[re]dicator[um."
Text in rotunda book hand in dark brown ink; 33-36 lines per page; bounding lines blind-ruled with a stylus or other sharp instrument; alternating 3- or 4-line red and blue capitals; initials touched in red; some underlining in red; catchwords at end of quires; side notes.
Collation: [a]-[d]12 [e]8 [f]-[h]12 [i]12(-i12); without the last blank leaf.
Printed in Paris in 1512 as "De reformatione religiosorum libri tres." Cf. Catholic encyclopedia.
Brief note in a different, later hand on leaf [1].
Bookplate of John Singer Sargent, whose estate was sold at auction at Christie's on July 24 & 27, 1925.
