- Text in two scribal hands in brown ink (leaves 1-23, and 23-86 of original foliation); in a single column, 28-32 lines per page; initials in red at the beginning of the life of each saint; capitals throughout text touched in red; Arabic foliation and month in red at top of each leaf.
Includes table of contents with folio and chapter numbers in both arabic and roman numerals for life of each saint through St. Bartholomew on leaf 54 of original foliation.
Reader's aids present in ms.--table of contents, foliation and chapter numbers, headlines identifying months of year--reflect desire of mendicant writers to make material on lives of the saints more accessible to lay population.
Text of ms. mistakenly identified as Jacobus de Voragine's "Legenda aurea", indicated by "Voragine" written on second flyleaf in an early 19th-century hand; by typewritten notice "Legenda aurea" affixed to inside of front board; and by earlier inscription "Jacobus Reverendo Padre Salutem" and "Legendarius" on first flyleaf.
Contemporary brown leather over (probably) original wood boards, with bevelled edges.
