Layout: Written in 23-27 long lines.
Script: Written in a "bastarda" hand, with few abbreviations.
Decoration: Prologue and chapter titles in red; beginning letter of each sentence touched in gold; one 5-line and 46 2-line initials in red, decorated with lines and dots in gold, lavender, and brown gouache, and accompanied by marginal columns and catchword decorations of flowers, leaves, vines, and penwork in similar colors, some containing human faces, monsters, grotesques, animals, and...
Origin: Devotional text by Dominican father, Domenico Cavalca, probably written in Tuscany during the second quarter of the 15th century.
Text is left incomplete at end, due to missing quire, the absence of which was probably intended to be disguised by a fictitious colophon added later in a different red ink: "Mateo Giraldi senese scrise in Sena l'anno del Signore G.C. MLXXXVI [i.e. 1386]. Laus Deo." - Keyword:
