Decoration: Five half-page illuminations accompanied by full borders of blue and gold acanthus spray on various grounds of patterned gold; below, gold, blue, and red illuminated initials 4 lines high except fol. 4r which has a simple gold initial on a dark red ground; fol. 4r (John the Evangelist, light rays streaming to his head, eagle holding an ink pot), fol. 10r (the Annunciation), fol... 2. Decoration: Seven historiated illuminations 16 lines high accompanied by outer bracket borders: fol. 17v (the Visitation), fol. 22v (the Nativity), fol. 24v (the Annunciation to the Shepherds in the field), fol. 26r (the Adoration of the Magi), fol. 28r (the Presentation in the Temple), fol. 29v (the Flight into Egypt), fol. 32v (the Coronation of the Virgin). 3. Decoration: Ten illuminations 12 lines high: fol. 67v (Michael), fol. 67v (John the Baptist), fol. 68r (John the Evangelist), fol. 68v (Peter), fol. 68v (Paul), fol. 69r (Christopher), fol. 69v (Sebastian), fol. 70r (Nicholas), fol 70v (Mary Magdalene), fol. 70v (Barbara). 4. Decoration: fol. 1r-3v in the lower margins of calendar pages four compartments depicting the occupation and the zodiac sign for each month; all other leaves except blanks accompanied by traced blue and gold acanthus spray band borders, those on fol. 73r-89v more finely prepared; fol. 7r and 8v have bracket outer borders, all on clear grounds; minor gold initials on alternating red and dark... Origin: Written probably in western France, about 1500, as indicated by the calendar and litany.
