Collation: Parchment, fol. i + 243 (modern foliation 1-241); 110( -1) 2-510 612 710 8-118 12-1712 1810 19-258 268 (2-7 stubs only); catchwords.
Layout: Written in 38-40 long lines; frame ruled in pen; prickings visible.
Script: Written by at least two hands; fol. 1-78 in secretary media incorporating many anglicana traits; fol. 78-241 in a hybrida media incorporating many angelicana traits.
Decoration: Historiated initials with human faces, acorns, and oak leaves in red, fol. 1-78. Simple red initials and red paragraph marks throughout. Fol. 78r-204r, initial letter of each line of verse touched in red. Fol. 78r-235r, in prose sections, red used as punctuation.
Origin: Written in England; signed in red on fol. 207v by J. Clynton in 1480.
Former owner's inscription "Christoforus Lincolne Monachus" written in red in 15th century textualis, final letter historiated with face of a monk.
Owned by Thomas Sowthen; indenture between Sowthen and John Craven, dated 1574, written on outer margin of fol. 9r; fol. 241v: Thomas Sowthen dyed this last day of Aprill 1579.
