Signed: Hanns von Saher. 1562. Hans von Saher was a schoolmaster and city official active in the early to mid-16th century in Bayreuth, Oberfranken, Germany.
Manuscript poem written in octosyllabic rhyming couplets, in which a number of irregularities occur. In the poem a goose is presented as the speaker, setting forth its service and general usefulness to man. These accomplishments include the saving of early Rome from surprise attack, providing delicious food, furnishing a writing instrument, supplying feathers for beds, and others.
