Text in brown ink; headlines, chapter headings, pauses, paragraph marks, and small initials in red; large and small red and blue pen-flourished capitals, and penwork extensions; side notes in brown within red borders, some of which are pen-flourished; bounding lines lightly-ruled in pencil on vellum leaves, and blind-ruled with stylus or other sharp instrument on paper leaves.
Signatures: [1]-[10]12 [11]14 [12]12 [13]12 (+1); inner- and outermost leaves of each gathering are vellum, "wrapped around" inner leaves of paper, with one added vellum leaf tipped in at end of last gathering.
Watermark is the common "Bow and arrow," but style of arrowhead, dimensions of bow, and closely-spaced chainlines of paper suggest production in northern France or Italy during the late 14th or very early 15th century; cf. Briquet's "Arc", nos. 797-800.
Tawed pigskin over boards, with brown leather spine; ornamental gold-stamped spine compartments containing center lozenge, and gold-stamped spine title "Pocqueti oration"; in phase box.
Backstrip reinforced with strips of vellum ms. waste.
Ownership inscription on leaf [1] of the Celestines of Amiens [France]: "Celestinorum de Ambiani."
Nineteenth-century ownership inscription on inside front cover of Paul de Berthou.
Accompanied by a string bookmarker, to which is affixed a small paper volvelle, the top wheel of which can be rotated to mark the reader's place at one of the four column numbers written on a second wheel attached beneath; in envelope, in phase box with book. - Keyword:
