Similar to miniatures by the illuminator known as the Master B. F. (identified as possibly being Francesco Binasco). Initial probably comes from a 20 volume set of choir books from the monastery of Santi Michele e Niccolò, Villanova Sillaro near Lodi in Lombardy. Consult De Hamel, C. Medieval world at our fingertips, pages, 213-221.
Described in Masi as a "Cut from page, no text. Portrait of two virgins holding a lily; lamp and beads in outer hand of each" incorrectly identifying girdle books as lamps.
