Collation: Paper (exceptionally glossy with a fleur watermark, cf. Briquet 6686-6690), fol. 173 (contemporary arabic foliation preceded and followed by a point); 1-1710 184(-4); leaves signed alphabetically a1 etc.; vertical catchwords preceded and followed by a point.
Layout: Written in 31 long lines beginning on the second ruled line; ruled in hard point.
Script: Written in slightly cursive humanistic textualis media.
Decoration: fol. 1, white initial washed with yellow, about 8 lines high, decorated with white ivy stem on a ground of faded blue and green, extended to form an inner and upper bracket border; six similar initials, without yellow wash, 4-10 lines high at the beginning of each book; minor red rustic humanistic capital initials throughout.
Origin: Written in Italy, probably central Italy, in the second half of the 15th century.
Sparse marginal notes, 15th or 16th century.
Inscription of 15th or 16th century, "No 69 Cosomographia Ptolomei"; back pastedown lower left, "CHJ" written in black ink.
