Acquired in 1987 from bookdealer Scott Petersen of Kenilworth, Ill. with another 16th-century Portuguese document: a receipt, dated Oct. 14, 1534 in Sacavem, Portugal (near Lisbon), by Benito Piriz acquitting Gaspar Costa from the debts owed by Costa's father. Cf. *Greenlee MS 428.
