- Title from incipit: "Incipit prologus in tractatus divine sapiencie. Stringit me caritas fraterna post multos sudores et labores novissime etia[m] hoc opus aggredi"--Fol. 1.
Author and date from explicit: "Explicit tractatus divine sapiencie editus p[er] quendam fr[atr]em ordinis Henricu[m] Reicher Carthusien[sis] monathum anno d[omi]ni millesimo quadringentesimo qui[n]quagesimo"--Fol. [3] of last sequence.
Holograph ms.: "Propria manu scripsit et conscripsit librum hunc B. Pater Henricus Reicher Carth"--Upper margin, fol. 1.
Also known as De divina sapientia; cf. Hogg.
Ornamented initials in yellow, red, blue, and unusual shades of orange and green; words, phrases, and triple quotation-like marks in the margin, chapter head-lines and initial slashes in red.
Non-standard arrangement of colors in decoration of initials, similar to the "teppichartig" or carpet pattern style typical of the Münster and Köln Charterhouses up to about 1430.
Sections of text marked with red and white fore-edge tabs.
Watermarks: bunch of grapes with large looped stem (Briquet 12998); bull's head with eyes and nostrils, below a saltire cross (similar to Briquet 15043, 15044, 15058, 15096, and 15097).
Additional notes (8 p. preceding text, 7 p. at end), probably in Reicher's own informal hand, contain quotations from Augustine, Gregory the Great and other Church Fathers on topics such as tonsure, free will, allegorical meaning, Cain, etc.
Rear vellum paste-down from an earlier ms., probably a legal text; front paste-down has been removed.
Ink stamp of Horst-Joachim Unverfähr, Würzburg, Sieboldstr[asse] on inside front cover. - Keyword:
