Physical description: lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for headings and entries. Often but not always yāʾ for alif maqṣūrah and final yāʾ dotted. Collation notes on the margins. Fol. (i)-5 are a later addition, with a table of contents. Title on tail of text block. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals (omits the first fol.; faulty...

Origin: According to colophon, copied by Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sakhāwī al-Shāfiʻī, Medina ("Madīnat Khayr al-bariyah"), Thursday(?) 15 Shaʻbān 949 [Nov. 24, 1542] (fol. 365b, followed by verses in praise of this work).
