Ms. codex. Title from illuminated title-page (fol. 2a). Physical description: 17 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. The text is vocalized. Thick soft light cream paper, glossy, hardly translucid, with a few lines visible. Illuminated title page (ʻunwān) in gold, blue and black on fol. 2a. Marginal annotations on beginning of text. Fol. 1b-1bis(a): Blank. On fol. 1bis(b) is a note on the author of the text... Inscriptions in Arabic script in pencil on fol. 1a: "ʻUmūm 644" and "Ḥadīth 177". Inscription in Arabic script on a spine label (vertical): "Mashāriq al-anwār al-nabawīyah 177". Origin: Copy completed on Tuesday 21 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 872(?) [July 12, 1468] by Muḥammad ibn ʻAbd Allāh al-Sunbāṭī al-Shāfiʻī (colophon, fol. 159b). Two ownership statements with impression of a stamp on fol. 2a, in the name of Aḥmad ibn Muṣṭafá al-mudarris [---] Shaykh Pāshā, and of al-Ḥājj Aḥmad Būstānjī Bāshā ---?, the latter dated 1207 H.
