Written in medium large naskh in black ink with use of red for headings and abbreviations (key in the preamble, fol. 4b). Soft cream paper, glossy, with laid and chain lines visible. Important ḥāshiyah on the margins and between the lines of the main text. Inscription with mention of the number of leaves on fol. 1a [2a in the modern foliation]. Modern... Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Ḥadīth 43". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of upper cover: "Ḥ 1179". Title in Arabic script on a label pasted on the fore-edge flap (horizontal): "Mashāriq al-anwār al-nabawīyah". Origin: Copy completed on 13 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 818 [Feb. 13, 1416] by ʻAlī ibn Zakaryā (colophon, fol. 173b). Partly obliterated inscription on fol. 1a [2a in the modern foliation], apparently reading: "Min awqāf Ibrāhīm Pāshā al-Tawqīʻī raḥmat Allāh ʻalayhi". Acquired from Abraham Shalom Yahuda, 1942.
