Manuscript codex. Title from heading on fol. 1r. Collation: Paper, iv + 114 + iv; foliated 1-114 in 20th-century pencil. Layout: Written in 15 long lines; catchwords on each leaf. Script: Written in a highly legible italic hand by a single scribe. Binding: Calf over boards; red edges; armorial blind stamps of William Stirling Maxwell on front and back cover. Binding restored (rebacked) by E.A. Thompson, Nov. 1973. Origin: The codex is difficult to date, although it is obvious that this copy was made at least 17 years after the composition of the original report. The copy was made no earlier than 1576 (the date on the heading on fol. 1r), and possibly a good deal later. The paper contains a clear watermark of an uncommon type (a crossbow). From the library of William Stirling Maxwell (his bookplate and armorial binding). Handwritten description in English tipped in on 3rd front flyleaf. Purchased by the University of Chicago from Lathrop C. Harper of New York (item 5810) in 1971. Forms part of the Helen and Ruth Regenstein Collection at the University of Chicago.
