Collation: Paper, fol. ii (modern paper) + 36 (foliated i-xxix, xxxi-xxxvii) + i (modern paper) ; 112 2-48; horizontal catchwords to right of center beginning on fol. 20.
Layout: Written in 25-29 long lines (fol. 11 in 2 columns)
Script: Written in litera bastarda media in a single hand; headings in litera bastarda media or late Gothic miniscule.
Decoration: Guide spaces for initials in late Gothic miniscule headings, not filled in. Manicules in scribe's hand on fol. 9v and 10v. Rubricated, with some headings in red and frequent red underscoring.
Binding: late 19th or early 20th century leather; title stamped in gold on spine: "Modus vivendi. M.S. 15th cent."
Origin: Written in France or the Low Countries in the late 15th century based on watermarks and script. Ox head on fol. 1-28 is Briquet no. 14238 (Paris, 1469); anchor on fol. 29-36 is Briquet no. 357 (Troyes, 1466) or Briquet no. 358 (Brussels, 1468). The last text in the Modus Vivendi is an antiphon of St. Joseph, whose feast was officially recognized by Rome in 1479.
