Layout: Written in 30-31 long lines (Ecclesiastical calendar), 24 long lines (English history to Henry VIII), and 19 long lines (Chronological table); ruled in red; prickings in outer margin. Script: Written in Cursiva Currens. Ecclesiastical calendar is written in Textualis Libraria, possibly by a different scribe. Decoration: Headings in red; 2-line initials in blue; rubricated. The University of Chicago Library shelf list card made 22 December 1924 records "two large initial letters with floreated borders in gold and colors"; as of October 2024, these decorated initials are no longer part of the codex; first leaf of the text and "one or two leaves in the middle (corresponding to the narrative of the... Binding: red morocco over boards; gold tooled dentelle borders on boards; spine title: "Comp. of the hist. of England"; marbled endpapers; gilt edges. De Ricci lists the binding as "English red mor. ca. 1740." Origin: The compiler did not make separate entries for the Yorkist kings, suggesting a pro-Lancastrian position. Dated 1529 on fol. 68v. The final event in the narrative history portion is the execution of Edmund de la Pole (1513). The latest event mentinoed in the chronological table is the Battle of Pavia (1525).
