Originally in the possession of the Benedictine monks of Battle Abbey. John Nutton (former owner)'s initials in brown ink: I.N. [with a small branch of leaves next to it Stamp of Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872), antiquarian and bibliophile. Various former owner's inscriptions on last two pages including a crude battle drawing and music notation. Acquired by Phillipps ca. 1825 from Thorpe, and sold to Quaritch in the Phillipps sale (London, 1896), #282. Former owner's inscription: Phillipps MS 2709.
