Date of production for miniature, inferred from its style, is late 13th or early 14th century. Pencil foliation on recto: 61. Origin: The codex manuscript was written in Macedonia in the city of Edessa, the present-day Édhessa, Greece by the monk Nikolaos, who completed his work May 4, 1133 (his colophon, Ms129 fols. 192v-193r). The minature was added in the late 13th or early 14th century. This leaf was likely detached sometime between 1915 and 1929. A catalogue description by Athanasios Papadopoulos-Kerameus... Layout: 1 column, 24 lines on recto and 7 lines on upper verso; illumination (86 x 95 mm) on lower verso; ruling with hard point; pricking in the outer margins. Script: Written in minuscule script in dark brown ink (some flaking). Decoration: Illumination on verso of Mark the portrays the Evangelist copying a text from an open volume placed on a lectern. Goodspeed Collection of New Testament Manuscripts. The leaf, as part of the original codex, was in the collection of the Metochion of the Holy Sepulchre in Constantinople, the present-day Istanbul, Turkey, where it was seen and catalogued by Emmanuel Joannides in 1864, and by Athanasios Papadopoulos-Kerameus in 1915.
