Origin: A near-contemporary account of the life, imprisonment, and trial of Mary Queen of Scots, written from the point of view of her Catholic supporters in Italy after 1580 (the prologue is dated 1580, but this may be a slightly later copy of the original). Dedicated to Alessandro Petruci. Inscription on inner front cover of J. Thomson, Sienna 1838 (not "Vienna" as in de Ricci); given by Thomson to Richard Henry Wilde (1789-1847) (donation inscription on inner front cover). Inherited by William Cumming Wilde.
