Script: Written in a notarial script in brown ink.
Origin: Written in Rome (signed by Emperor Otto III, with his monogram and seal) on 31 May 996.
In 1854, still belonged to the church of Sant'Alessio on the Aventine in Rome, where it was seen by Ludwig Bethmann. The document disappeared before 1865 and passed into the hands of J.T. Payne. Belonged to William G. Medlicott, Longmeadow (Cat. 1878, n. 2723)
