Description: Rubricated ; only text 2 is dated, but the texts are done in a very similar style and on similar paper and text 1 is probably of only slightly earlier date. Decoration: Texts are written inside gold leaf frame outlined in black ink and one line of red ink. Text 1 has a beautiful illuminated head piece on fol. 1b executed in gold leaf, embossed and decorated with green, blue, orange, purple and yellow watercolors. Text 2 has a less elaborate head piece on fol. 7b drawn in gold ink and blue and purple watercolors. Origin: [Esvile] Copied by Rasih Mustafa, undated (colophon, fol. 6a) -- [Nesâyih'ül-vüzerâ] Copied by ("qad iṣṭabagha al-qalam ʻan taswīd kitāb Naṣīḥat al-Nāmah ʻan yad ... ") Seyyid Mahmut bin Osman el-Siruzî, and completed in Istanbul in 1197 (1782 or 1783) -- colophon (fol. 34a). Ownership signature in black ink glazed with gold glitter in the name of Mustafa Sifet ibn Mehmet Arif, dated 1240 (1824-25) and accompanied by a seal impression, on the recto of front flyleaf. Originally acquired by Robert Garrett from Abraham Shalom Yahuda ; 1942.
