Origin: Although it is not proven that the manuscript originated in the circle of the court of Francis I, it is accepted that all known manuscripts are datable between 1522 and 1526. The translator, François d'Assy, was employed by the early 1520s by Louise de Valentinois, daughter of Charlotte d'Albret and Cesare Borgia and, by 1526, he was the secretary to Louise and Henry d'Albret, King of...
