Garrod (d. 1960) was a Classicist at Merton; Harry H. Peach, of Dryad Handicrafts, was an enthusiastic supporter of handwriting reform. More recently the manuscript was owned by Frank Allen Thomson.

Collation: Paper, fol. 56 (foliated in modern pencil, fol. 1-9 in upper right corner, fol. 9-56 in lower left corner); 110 ( -2) 3-510 68; catchwords written vertically at the end of each quire; several vellum quire guards visible.
Layout: Written in 30 long lines; ruled in dry point.
Script: Written in an (idiosyncratic) humanistic cursive script by one hand.
Decoration: 8 2-line initials in red or blue with pen flourishing in other color.
Binding: 18th century calf over pasteboard.
Origin: Written in Italy in the 15th century.
