Collation: Paper (Monts, somewhat similar to Briquet 11875, Colle 1427), fol. i + 16 + i (multiple foliation systems in upper right corner: 31-46; 40-55; 6-21); one gathering.
Layout: 30-40 lines in single column of varying width; blanks of varying width between lines of script.
Script: Written in a mercantesca script (probably in one hand, but with greater and lesser haste).
Binding: 17th cent. black morocco, with simple rolls in blind; gilt-stamped with skull-and-crossbones at the corners and center of each cover.
Origin: Written in Messina on 20 August 1431. The Balsamo, originally from Lombardy, are present in Sicily from the 12th cent.
