Script: Written in a formal gothic book hand in 2 sizes according to liturgical function. Fol. 133v-135 by a different scribe.
Decoration: 4- and 3-line initials in white-patterned blue or pink on burnished gold ground with border the length of the text in sprays of gold leaves, acanthus, flowers, and strawberries. 2-line initials in gold on alternating white- patterned pink or blue grounds with border extensions 1/2 length of text; 1-line initials in similar style but lacking extensions. Binding: Stiffly bound (ca. 1930-1940 in San Francisco by Florence S. Walter) in tan calf inlaid with red, blue, and green morocco; stamped in gold to form central panel of tree resting on half-moon ground; binder's stamp on inner back cover. Pink silk doublures; gilt edges over red.
Origin: Written in France towards the middle of the fifteenth century for use in Poitiers, as shown by the liturgical use of the Hours of the Virgin, and by the use of the Office of the Dead; in the calendar and in the litany are saints of local veneration in Poitiers.
