Front endsheet, verso, in ink, in upper left-hand corner: "7-3466". Back flyleaf, verso, in modern pencil, upper left-hand corner: "45 decorierte Seiten."

Collation: Parchment, 25; 1-28 38( -2) 44( -2).
Layout: 19 lines per page; traces of frame ruling in ink with vertical lines running entire length of page.
Script: Gothic in Franco-Flemish hand.
Decoration: 81 miniatures illustrating scenes from Genesis, life of Mary and life of Christ; some have been retouched. Two historiated initials: fol. 5r, Mary praying; fol. 24r, Christ on the cross. Floral border on 2r. Arms of the Duke of Cleve in 9-line initial on fol. 1r. Primary initials 7-9 lines in gold against red and blue ground or in blue with red flourishes. Small 1-line initials...
Binding: Cut velvet over pasteboards; doublures in paper with wheel motif on brown ground. Binding now removed and stored with manuscript.
Accompanying materials: Former binding in box with manuscript.
Origin: Produced in the Duchy of Cleve (now Germany), as indicated by the coat of arms on fol. 1r and by the dialect (East Middle Dutch), probably the second quarter of the 15th cent. The illustrations are confined to the margins and may be of a later (1460-1480?) date.
