Collation: Parchment, fol. i + 61; 1-28 34 4-78 88 (+1 pasted in); quires 4-8 are signed a-e at center bottom of first folio of gathering.
Layout: 25 lines per page; line-ruled in lead with double lines on left.
Script: Gothic, in several hands and in both brown and black ink, 1-4 lines of majuscule accompanying large initials.
Decoration: Zoomorphic initial (fol. 21r) with beasts and foliage, blue and yellow in-filling and outlined in red. Other initials are 20 lines in dark blue on green ground (fol. 2v); 13-line in blue with orange and green foliate and silver in-filling, on stipled yellow ground; and 8-line initial in orange on silver and blue ground with green and blue (fol. 1r). Secondary initials are 3-line...
Binding: 18th cent. full leather binding over boards, with gilt decoration on spine and edges of boards. Edges speckled in red and blue. On spine: "Ms Theol. 4° 81" pasted on. On front pastedown: "6/6 " crossed out; then "6/5 [615?]" written.
Origin: Produced in Germany in the 12th century.

1. fol. 1r-2v: "[letter of Cromatius and Heliodorus to Jerome] Partum Marie Virginis regine virginum: simul et navitatem atque infanciam domini Jesu Christi in ypoc[r]ifis libris invenimus ... quod idoneum est sanctis ac beatissimis Cromatio et Eliodoro episcopis Ieronimus exiguus Christi servus in domino salutem."
