The title is based on the following passage (f. 21r): "Incipit ordo manualis ferariensis ecclesi[a]e, secundum consuetudinem romane curie." It should be observed, however, that the words "ferariensis ecclesi[a]e" are in a different script than the rest of the sentence and have been written over an erasure. The place-name does not double the first "r", and the final "e" in "ecclesie" contains a...
Layout: Written in 2 columns of 16-36 lines (size of letters and ruling varies); frame-ruled.
Script: Rounded Gothic script (littera Bononiensis); several hands.
Decoration: Twenty-five illuminated figurative or historiated initials, fourteen decorative initials, and numerous painted capitals with elaborate pen flourishes in red or blue.
Music: Contains musical notation.
Binding: Modern, white calf. Rebound in 1978 by Ivan Ruzicka (Sarasota, Florida).

Origin: Written in Italy (possibly Ferrara), from a church or monastery of S.
