Manuscript gathering
Collation: i (modern paper, pastedown) + 8 (parchment) + i (modern paper, pastedown): 1⁸. Several quires missing at beginning and end.
Foliation: Early modern foliation in faded black ink in upper right corner, reflecting the former state of the manuscript (cxlvi-clii). Foliation supplied by cataloger.
Layout: Written in two columns of 30 lines, above top line. Ruled in drypoint. Pricking marks visible in outer margins throughout.
Script: Written by a single hand in late Caroline minuscule.
Decoration: 2-line initials in brown with red penwork; sentence initials touched in red; rubrics in red. Guides for rubrics visible in outer margins on folios 4r, 7v and partly on 8v.
Music: Neumes in upper margin on folio 4ra.
Binding: Modern. Bound in half parchment and paste paper with vertical stripes in cream and dark blue.
Origin: Probably written in Italy during the twelfth century.

In good condition except for soiling and discoloration, especially on the outermost leaves. Few interlinear corrections by a contemporary hand. Sections are marked with a cross in outer margins. "Maximi" added by a modern hand in inner margin on folio 7v, next to the rubric "Sermo in traditione simboli."
History of the manuscript is unknown. Bookseller marks, presumably by H. P. Kraus, in pencil: inscribed "HPK" and "Lectionary fragment saec. XII" in capital letters in upper margin of front pastedown and "1100" and "12th c." in upper right corner of back pastedown. Possible bookseller or ownership inscriptions in pencil in upper and lower margins of folio 1r, now erased and illegible.
