Foliation: Paper, i + 356 + i; printed items have individual signatures and some have pagination; items are numbered in pencil, with later numbers not always corresponding to this record.
Script: Written in cursive script by many hands.
Decoration: 2 engraved maps of the Pontine Marshes (f. 145r, 333r), 1 of Roman aqueducts (f. 184r).
Binding: 18th-century parchment, lacking one pair of ties out of 2, title Paludi Pontine, visita delle strade di Roma and shelf number 142 in ink on spine.
Origin: Written in Italy, mostly in Rome, between 1586 and 1760.
Several component items formerly owned by Pietro Millini; the volume formerly in the archives of the Millini, a noble family of Rome (Kraus), and in the Colonna Biblioteca (Phillipps).
Formerly owned by Frederick North, Earl of Guilford; sold at auction at Messrs. Evans (London) as part of his collection, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 289, vol. 16, to bookseller Thomas Thorpe.
Sold by Thorpe to Sir Thomas Phillipps, ms. 7636 (label on spine).
Sold as part of the residue of the Phillipps collection first to William H. Robinson Ltd., 1945, and again to Hans Peter Kraus, Mar. 1978.
Sold by Hans Peter Kraus, List 204 (1982), no. 74, to John D. Stanitz (Cleveland, Ohio), Ms. 8.
