Decoration: Surrounding each text block on all four sides is an elborately decorated border of foliage consisting of vinework leaves, and flowers in green, red, pink, blue, and burnished gold
Decoration: Each side features an illuminated roundel (30 mm in diameter) in the central exterior margin depicting scenes from the life of St. Alexius, on the recto featuring two standing figures against a landscape, and on the verso featuring an indoor scene depicting two men kneeling before the Roman Emperor
