Manuscript codex
Collation: iv (paper, i is pastedown) + 60 (paper) + xvi (paper, xvi is pastedown): 1-7⁸ + 8⁴.
Foliation: Two sets of modern foliation in pencil: in upper right corner (1-75; including the flyleaves at the end) and at center (1, 28, 30, 40, 41). The description follows the modern foliation in pencil in upper right corner.
Catchwords: Vertical catchwords in lower right corner on folios 8v, 16v, 24v, 32v; horizontal catchwords at center on folios 48v, 56v.
Watermarks: Two watermarks on the front flyleaves: a detached crossbow with stirrup, with a single-lined arch and a double-lined shaft (similar to Piccard PPO 9-11-2135); a monogram with the letters RWB? (unidentified); two watermarks in the text block: a goat's head with smooth curled horns (similar to Piccard PPO 15.3-3-271); a detached flower with five petals (found only on one sheet...
Layout: Written in 25 long lines, below top line. Ruled in lead.
Script: Written by a single hand in Gothic rotunda.
Decoration: Two drawings of a tree in plain red illustrating different concepts related to sin on folios 29v and 35r; 2- to 6-line initials in plain red throughout; paragraph marks in red (folios 1r-39v); initials highlighted in red (folios 1r-39v); most of the opening rubrics and section headings in red.
Binding: Early modern. Parchment case binding over thin paper boards with laced-in alum-tawed endbands. Four repurposed paper strips adhered to the spine to reinforce the attachment of the covers are partly visible underneath the pastedowns on both sides. A spiked round paper label adhered to the tail of the spine, with a modern handwritten inscription now effaced.
Origin: Probably written in Italy and completed on April 5, 1449: "Scriptum mccccxlviiiio die v ap[ri]lis." -- colophon, folio 58v.

In good condition except for some ink transfer on a few leaves. Annotations in a contemporary hand on folios 59r and 60v.
Early history of the manuscript is unknown. Bookseller or ownership marks on spine: inscribed "18" in brown ink and "99" in pencil on head of spine. Paper label adhered to tail of spine. Possible bookseller annotations in pencil on front pastedown, now erased. Inscribed "99" in pencil on upper left corner of first front flyleaf.
