Text differs slightly from that published in Crónica de los Barbarrojas (Madrid: Academia de la Historia, 1853) Memorial histórico español v. 6, pp. 331-439. One of a number of contemporary copies produced after the poem was composed in 1545 in Valladolid. With this is bound a poem of 108 lines in Latin by Lodivicus Perez, Presbyter Portillanus, addressed to John of Austria on the victory at Lepanto (beginning "Ductorum potero tot ego qui gesta trophaeis"), [1574].
