Includes fragments of two vellum deeds used as pastedowns, one dated 1426, the other also 15th century, both relating to Valence. 19 x 13 cm.; gatherings mostly of 12 leaves (the first two of 8); written in brown ink by a single scribe in cursive lettre bâtarde; initials, paragraph marks, and incipits usually in red; a few penwork drawings of humans, animals, and monstrous heads attached to initials or in margins. Watermark: a helmet (Briquet 2901), whose use is recorded at Lorris (Loire) in 1450. In early 19th-century French purple boards, gilt title on upper spine and '2849' pasted on lower spine.
