Manuscript composite codex
Collation: iv (paper, i and ii are pastedowns) + 134 (parchment) + iv (paper, iii and iv are pastedowns): 1¹² (wants 1, 2, 11, 12) + 2¹² (wants 1, 11, 12) + 3¹² (wants 1, 2, 11, 12) + 4-6¹² + 7¹² (wants 1, 12) + 8¹² (wants 11, 12) + 9¹² (wants 3) + 10¹² (wants 11, 12) + 11-12¹² +13-14⁴. Several leaves (possibly quires) missing, especially from Part 3.
Foliation: Modern foliation in pencil in upper right corner (1-134); one stub between folios 8 and 9, and two stubs between folios 81 and 82 unnumbered.
Catchwords: Horizontal catchword in lower right corner on folio 92v.
Watermarks: Single watermark on the front flyleaves: partly reads "ERRA" in capital letters (only part of the watermark present; unidentified); single watermark on the back flyleaf and pastedown: partly reads "P//U CAR//AÑA P?//T? CA" surmounted by sun in a circle (only part of the watermark present; very similar to CAHIP B1191).
Layout: Part 1: Written in 27 long lines, below top line, except for the table of contents (folios 1r-2r) which is written in two columns. Ruled in lead with full-length bounding lines. Part 2: Written in 28 long lines, below top line. Ruled in lead, with full-length vertical bounding lines and a full-length double horizontal bounding line in the upper margin. Part 3: Written in 22 long lines...
Script: Written by at least three hands (folios 1-81; 82-126; 127-134) in Gothica textualis.
Decoration: Part 1: 3-line puzzle initial D in red and blue with pen-flourished quarter bar border in red, blue and light blue extending from the initial on folio 2r; 2-line initials at the beginning of chapters in alternating blue with red penwork and red with light blue penwork; rubrics in red; chapter numbers in table of contents in red; initials in table of contents in alternating plain...
Binding: Modern. Parchment case binding over thin paper boards with laced-in tanned endbands, three of which are broken.
Origin: Probably written in France at the end of the thirteenth or the beginning of the fourteenth century. Part 3 might have been written slightly later than Parts 1 and 2.

In relatively good condition despite missing and damaged leaves. Minor imperfections on parchment and signs of early repairs. All three parts heavily trimmed, probably at the same time, with loss of marginal annotations. Pen trials in the lower margin of folios 125v-126r.
Early history of the manuscript is unknown. Bookseller marks on the front and back pastedown and on the first front flyleaf. - Keyword:
