Written in northeastern France, probably at the Carthusian house of Val-Saint-Esprit of Gosnay, Bethune, Pas-de-Calais, France, in a gothic bookhand and decorated with red and blue initials.
In a late 18th-cent. English morocco binding.
In a protective tray case, 19 cm.
Formerly owned by the Carthusian house of Val-Saint-Esprit in Gosnay, France (inscribed, f. 1v: "Liber carthusianorum vallis sancti spiritus in pago gosnay secus bethuniam in arthesia AA6 (?)"; 18th-cent. ex libris of F. Bishop presbyter (?), Dunkirk; bookplate of W[illiam?] Wollaston of Finborough, Suffolk; sale of a clergyman, London, Sotheby's, 8 Mar. 1911, no. 45, to Ellis.
