Written in Germany for use in a Benedictine monastery in a hybrida script, with three miniatures (front pastedown, ff. 193v, 377v) drawn in pen, ink, and color wash on paper.
In a 15th-century German leather binding over beech boards with blind tooling and metalwork ornaments.
In a protective tray case, 18 cm.
See curatorial file for fragments of the manuscript removed and conserved during end-processing.
Formerly owned by W. F. Olis who bought the breviary in Paris in 1858; given to Samuel Eliot, grandfather of donor.
Gift of Samuel Eliot Morison, 1926.
