- Date from palaeography. The ms. was written by three different scribes in turn, the last one named in the colophon (f. 278r) as Theodosius, a Reader.
There is musical notation throughout, "middle Byzantine" for the main text, with revisions in the "late Byzantine" notation of the 14th century.
There are rectangular headpieces on ff. 1r, 269r, and other small ornaments throughout, all in red. Initials are in red with simple pen-work decoration.
Two flyleaves come from a 13th-century text discussing luxurious clothing.
The two pastedowns come from a martyrology of the 12th or 13th century.
Bound in 1632 in full leather over heavy wooden boards, tooled in blind. On the front is a panel showing David playing a harp; on the back, a floral ornament. There are two clasps of plaited leather and brass. The date of the binding comes from a note by the hieromonk Leontios on the front pastedown.
There are various notes by owners on the front and back pastedowns.
In a tray case, 29 cm.
Frederick North, Earl of Guilford (Guilford sale, Evans, 8 Dec. 1830, lot 236); Sir Thomas Phillipps (MS 7506, number pasted on spine).
