Written in littera bastarda in one column in black ink, with paragraph marks in red and blue.
There are many colored drawings, diagrams and tables.
Autograph manuscript written in November 1549 for King Henri II (dedicatory letter, ff. 2r-3v).
Bound in modern black morocco by Lortic fils, the upper and lower boards stamped with the arms of France.
Gift of Christian A. Zabriskie and Philip Hofer, 1951.
