- The text is written on the versos in Latin in an italic script, above a German translation in German cursive script.
On the rectos there are 61 diagrams in color showing the positions of the moon (or sun) before, during and after an eclipse. There are 7 other watercolor drawings showing scenes during eclipses.
The ms. is similar to but not the same as the printed edition (Augsburg 1556).
The title page has parallel titles in Latin and German. It contains a dedication to Duke Otto Heinrich of Bavaria. The date 1554 follows if this ms. is itself the presentation copy.
Bound in 18th-century half mottled calf and marbled paper.
In a tray case, 47 cm.
